Who's Right?
56Mike's Common Sense
Everybody has their own personal views in life. Sometimes we keep them to ourselves, sometimes we tell others about them. As Americans, we all have the right, not only to hold our own view on something, but also to voice that view.
I don’t understand why, but many people feel they can hold, and state their views, but attack others who hold and state different views; especially in the matter of religion. It seems to me that these folks have forgotten the two basic tenets of their Savior’s message…love, and tolerance.
I am not talking only about Christianity, but all of the world’s religions. Every religion was started by an enlightened being who taught mostly about love, and the need for tolerance. I do mean ALL of the world’s religions. If you don’t believe me research it.
What could anyone be fighting about? If you follow the tenets of your Savior, how could anyone have a problem with someone stating their view point, or practicing their religion?
We all need to lighten up. As long as your faith is grounded on love, and you practice that love as best you can, you are growing spiritually.
To my fundamentalist readers out there, I know this is “way out there” for you. I respect your views and I am certainly not picking a fight with you. I am a “New Age” espouser, I do not deny that. I grew up a staunch Catholic, but as I grew, so did my understanding. If you are interested in my personal experiences, the early years are documented in the “Awakening Triogy"
If everyone could grasp the concept of “Love God, love yourself, and love thy neighbor as thy self” this world would be plunged into a golden age.
Think about it.
Note to my friends, I am posting my book "Wilbur and Us" on my web site mikescommonsense-12.blogspot.com. A new chapter every other day. It is the real life experiences, and exploits of my pet pot belly pig Wilbur. Hope you check it out.

That is a good adage and I suppose I need to follow it more often than I do. Thanks.
Although I wholeheartedly enjoy your sentiments muley, even if people loved themselves, loved God and loved their neighbors, evil acts are easily justified. With a Catholic background you undoubtedly realize Catholicism is based on control and power or the Bishops would simply guide to more fully understand love rather than pretend they can absolve past sin and promise a place in heaven no-matter what atrocities have been committed.
The story of Adam and Eve had a purpose of understanding the difference between right and wrong. Our world is filled with many who kill in the name of love and the further we get from the Garden, the greater the acts that cause us to speak out, rather than just keep our mouths shut unless what we witness is pleasant.
I can recognize a lost, wounded lonely soul and offer them an abundance of compassion and unconditional love. But if I am silent about how they may prevent further wounds by explaining the law of cause and effect, am I truly loving them to the best of my ability? Am I loving them as much as I love myself in researching karma? Am I caring at all if I don't help them understand what I believe is God?
Thus dear Sir, I look forward to a Golden Age with you and ask you to continue speaking out with love, but not to turn a blind eye and traverse the path of least resistence by pretending all is "nice".
And BTW - this is all said in kind because I admire the fact that you did not simply "accept" what you were told, but walk a spiritual path toward unity. I too moved beyond Christianity believing that God would not have left us for over 2,000 years with only words written by disciples hundreds of years after Jesus' visit. My path has helped me feel very "light" :)

In answer to your question: I am, of course! :D
Just kidding. I have been accused by three Hubbers of being hostile and hateful because of my commentary on their Hubs about "Only fools believe in fairy tales like God" "Abortion is a good thing" and "the only people opposed to gay marriage are ignorant closet homos." It wasn't what they said but the viciousness, the snideness, of their words. I felt I had no choice but to defend the Truth. 99% of the time, though, I abide by what you say in this Hub. These are wise words. Thanks.
